Intimate Mansion Real Wedding at The Anderson House
This June wedding of Kaitlyn & Craig is the perfect recipe of elegant, intimate and thoughtful. With the stunning backdrop of the Anderson House, film photographer and WS fave Laura Gordon along with Fine Art Curation member and stylist/planner Pamela Barefoot Events + Design had a wonderful job of creating this wedding day memorable for not only the couple but the experience of the guests too. Read on for how Pamela created an experiential design...
"Kaitlyn & Craig were married 6/16/18 at The Anderson House in Washington, D.C. Kaitlyn said, “We really wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate house party in lieu of a big banquet reception. The Anderson house accomplishes this perfectly with a regal touch to it as well. The eclectic style and showcase of the original owner’s travels really mirrored our interests. Also, who can say no to that reflecting pool and garden?!”
Kaitlyn & Craig envisioned their wedding to be a lovely intimate and welcoming event. After touring the Anderson House, they instantly fell in love with its breathtaking beauty and grandeur! We knew this mansion was the ideal setting to create their intimate and gorgeous affair. We designed the ceremony in the ballroom to be very personal and cozy with semi-circle seating and a custom greenery backdrop for the couple and officiant. The bride and her father entered the ceremony down the ornate staircase where the railing was covered with a stunning floral garland for her grand entrance.
Dinner was served partially al fresco in the back garden around the pool. We added an open air tent with dramatic yet soft drapery, lush floral chandeliers above the pool to call guests’ attention to the open air while lots of soft, organic and romantic table details created a warm, inviting space. Distressed wood tables, Louis chairs, velvet linens and travertine tiles were all inspired by the old world charm.
Kaitlyn & Craig love throwing dinner parties and touring around restaurants with a group of friends, so they wanted to keep that spirit in their reception. They created a signature cocktail, the “Harper Ever After”. It was a delicious white peach margarita - perfect for their summer reception! Being foodies, they didn’t want the typical “fish, chicken, or beef” menu selection, so they worked with Occasions to design a coursed menu, with some unique yet familiar selections to make sure everyone was comfortable. We made sure everyone had access to pre-ceremony champagne and mock-tails, cocktail hours hors d’oeuvres and a roving sushi bar (served on hock trays), and, after dinner, we had a large lounge area set up for a whiskey and cigar bar."
