We're seeing more and more formal weddings and styled shoots recently and this black tie wedding inspiration shoot from fine art film photographer Megan Pomeroy is perfection. Bucking the trend for stuffy formal weddings, this styled shoot incorporates the best of both; the relaxed outdoors with the more formal and elegant indoors. Just my style... From the dress designer, Jillian: "Megan and I collaborated on the style of this shoot, which was originally going to be a lookbook for my newest collection of handmade bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses and became a full-fledged wedding inspiration shoot upon finding the storybook mansion backdrop. We were aiming to echo the 1930s easy-glamour feel of the gowns with lush florals, vintage diamonds, and an opulent setting on the grounds of a grand mansion built in 1915. The dark, dramatic florals by I Bloom. were set off beautifully against the cream and gold accents in the tableware and vases from Nostalgia Rentals. The texture of the florals perfectly complemented to the softness of the gowns and lent a richness and a touch of modernity. A simple, buttercream frosted cake from Le Cupcake was accented with more beautiful blooms, and the greenery in the tablescape tied it all in with the beautiful garden setting. The finishing touch (and my favorite part to pick out!) was the stunning jewelry from Sartor Hamann. We used both diamond estate pieces and Art Deco replicas to accent the gowns and the effect was just perfect. It was hard not to feel like we stepped back in time after seeing everything come together against the elegant historic mansion."
