Words from Lissa Ryan Photography: "The inspiration behind this gorgeous shoot was the impeccable styling and neutral palette of The Retreat at Cool Spring, a stunningly gorgeous restored mansion in the countryside of Virginia. The grey, white, gold and green color palette reflected the overall aesthetic of The Retreat and contributed to the simple, but elegant feel of the shoot. When we met to discuss the overall vision, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of a raw, organic color palette inspired by bird egg shells, feathers and stone! We chose to incorporate roses that technically are a very pale lavender but so pale that they are practically grey. A tone that is so rare in the natural floral world. I used these roses as a spring board for choosing a well rounded, neutral color palette that is both moody and romantic without being overly dark. I wanted to keep the florals very organic and wild while still remaining sophisticated. We incorporated the neutral tones through the floral design, the cake that was literally a work of art, each hand lettered, scrolling love quote, and the delicate beading of the bride’s gown. The goal of this shoot was to inspire the fine art bride who loves muted colors, romantic details, and elegant events."
