How to Style Your Tropical Elopement

Aug 17, 2018 | Inspiration

Hawaiian Island of Oahu is indisputably most famous for its 227 miles of shoreline, where sandy beaches, and volcanic rocks, meet breathtaking turquoise water. Because of its ethereal beauty, the island is undeniably one of the most romantic elopement destinations in the world. It was this stunning tropical landscape that inspired Debbie of Designs by Hemingway to plan a series of ethereal wedding-inspired shoots by the ocean photographed by Stella Yang. Thinking of planning an elopement to the gorgeous islands of Hawaii? Check out these stunning images for inspiration and style ideas...

From Stella Yang: "As the sun rose behind the silver clouds, we hit the beach with Debbie and our bride, and the effect of the misty morning air in this tropical paradise was magical. Stirred by the wildness of the ocean, Debbie also created a spectacular bouquet filled with sea grass, coral and lunaria branches. The glorious layered Carol Hannah gown and black rocky shore created a dramatic scene. The color of the gown perfectly matched that of the sand and the way it floated and danced in the morning breeze was nothing short of jaw dropping. And the natural hair and makeup by Nalei Jane made our bride feel like a mermaid who had just received her gift of legs and strolled out of the surf onto dry land.

"The island-inspired place setting, with the intricate, white ceramic dishes, iridescent Mother of Pearl silverware, and delicate natural accents, brought a certain sophistication to our beachy scene, while still drawing on the environment for inspiration. The elegant script of Bijou Creative evoked the energy of waves on the shore making it the final necessary touch in our tablescape.”

I treasure the new places I get to explore and the wonderful people I have the
opportunity to meet and work with all thanks to being a wedding photographer. I
look forward to visiting Hawaii, and the friends I made there, again soon!"
