Some venues immediately inspire creativity, and Château du Loroux is certainly one of them. Set amongst the ruins of a 12th-century abbey in the Loire Valley and preparing to welcome its very first celebrations, this remarkable property offers something we rarely encounter: the privilege of exploring somewhere before its story has truly begun.

The historic architecture, soft stone textures, and beautiful natural surroundings come together to create an extraordinary backdrop for a story centred on intimate luxury and timeless romance. The inspiration behind the shoot was simple: the atmosphere of a refined black-tie wedding on a smaller, more personal scale. The team wanted the setting to feel considered and intimate while still carrying the quiet sophistication that defines destination celebrations in the Loire Valley. Throughout the day, the focus remained on understated luxury, meaningful details, and the particular beauty of gathering with those closest to you. The venue’s centuries of history naturally complemented this vision. Every scene feels effortlessly romantic without needing to try.

The contrast between modern bridal fashion and the ancient abbey ruins gives the shoot a beautiful visual tension, resulting in imagery that feels both elevated and authentic, neither purely editorial nor purely romantic, but somewhere more interesting in between. To complement the aesthetic, Jeremie from Il etait un Pixel, incorporated 35mm film throughout, using Kodak Portra 400 alongside digital coverage. Maintaining consistency between the two formats was a priority, so he worked with the same Canon lens system across both cameras throughout the day. Digital brought the clarity and precision the imagery needed, while film added the softness and nostalgia that only that format can offer. Together they feel like the natural language for a place like this.

Every corner of Château du Loroux offers something worth exploring, from the ancient stonework and abbey ruins to the elegant interiors and beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding the property. It is a venue that gives a great deal to those willing to look carefully, and it leaves us genuinely excited to see how future couples and creative teams will make it their own.

With its rich heritage, thoughtful restoration, and undeniable sense of romance, Château du Loroux is something truly special in the Loire Valley. This Sunlit Abbey shoot felt like a beautiful introduction to everything still to come.
