Spring garden party wedding at Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC
Risa and Merritt's garden-party wedding is everything you'd wish for from a spring soirée, with pastel flowers, dreamy draping and a spectacular floral wedding cake.The couple chose the historic 101-year-old Duke Mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina to host their joyful spring wedding, which was captured by North Carolina wedding photographer, Alaina Ronquillo.
Wedding planner, Sarah Cook, from SoHo Event Design, tells us more about it: "Risa and Merritt were a joy from the start. Their bubbly personalities and Merritt’s contagious laugh are some of the first things I noticed when we met. They wanted a garden party inspired wedding with a pastel color palette to welcome the spring season.
"With this in mind, I carefully selected linens that had a bit of texture, botanical undertones and were light and airy in feel. We then added layers of color through the place settings with gold rimmed chargers, blush ceramic plates, lilac napkins, blush cut glass water goblets, gold rimmed wine and champagne flutes and modern gold flatware. The touches of gold warmed up the overall design and tied into the beautiful floral designs.
"For flowers, Meristem Floral incorporated a lot of color with touches of pink, lavender, butter yellow, light blue and rich greenery to ground the look. We highlighted the design with light blue taper candles and the most beautiful light blue carriage lights in the tent. Each place setting had a few springs of fresh lavender which added to the overall feel as it smelled like a spring garden when you walked in the tent.
"Added details included a beautifully patterned cocktail hour linen, three unique wedding cakes featuring the springtime palette, beautiful romantic draping in the dinner tent and a dance floor that never emptied. The overall design was a true representation of this couple - joyful, bright, cheerful and romantic."
