Scottish wedding inspiration with spring flowers
There's nothing quite like a traditional Scottish wedding. The atmospheric sound of rousing bagpipes evoke the feeling of the beautiful highlands, whether you're trying the knot in Scotland itself or celebrating your heritage elsewhere in the world. Today we're enjoying the beauty of Scottish springtime in this stunning shoot from Minnesota wedding florist and stylist, and Fine Art Curation member, Rose and Laurel.
Over to founder and creative director, Sarah Bruxvoort: "We drew inspiration from the painting 'maiden with unicorn' by Domenichino, repeating the unicorn motif in the envelope liner, vintage brass cake topper, and reproduction tapestry for our formal portraits.
"Our photographer Shasta Bell lent us her family’s tartan kilt, which served as an inspiration for the color palette of spring green with a touch of a warm gold to compliment the stone of The Bakken Museum and crisp garden fauna still remaining after the first thaw.
"The draping table garland was inspired by the great British florist Constance Spry, full of opulent deep purple hellebore and the first of the garden roses. Adhering to our sustainable design practices, no floral foam was used in any of the designs. Our wax flower crown was a fortuitous find, sourced from Scotland just a few weeks before our shoot.
"The bridal gown is simple clean-lined dress that's fit for a princess. We added custom sleeves from Justin Alexander to keep off the early spring chill. The dramatic back and button detail on the sleeves made for a clean contrast to the textural floral throughout."
