Romantic Summer Wedding in a Colorful 270 year old Dutch Mansion
A dreamy green and botanical style wedding is a straight shot to our wedding-loving sparrow hearts. There's something so romantic about a garden based ceremony and old world vibe. But that doesn't mean botanical has to be overly fussy, or traditional. Case in point? This slice of inspiration from Fine Art Curation member Wike Zijlstra Photography, and The Bridal Blush. It's sophisticated and organic all in one—and well, complete perfection.
FromWike Zijlstra Photography: "In the middle of the city of Rotterdam (The Netherlands) there is a more quite place. With lots of trees, nature and a historical mansion that was build in 1750. For a long time it was called ‘Het Heerenhuys’ which was the main building of the park. If you were to take a walk in the area, you can hear the birds that have flown away from the busy city centre. It’s a place to calm down and enjoy Dutch history.
The inside of the mansion reflects the peace and quiet of the park. The wallpaper looks fragile, romantic and it takes me back to a painting from the 19th century. It was hand painted by the artists Snijder & Co, coming from Rotterdam self.
For this shoot I was inspired by the building and interior itself but with a modern twist. Green was the base of the colour palette and added some sweet colours like baby pink and warm peachy tones in the flowers for that spring and early summer feel. Tamarah from The Bridal Blush put a pop of yellow in the flowers as well. It gives a modern feel but the result is till very romantic, which fits the vibe of the venue and the park around it.
We were totally in love with the flowy dress, with romantic bow on the back, that beautiful bride Gaelle was wearing for this inspirational shoot. The split makes it great for those warmer days when getting married. To make sure the overall feel of the photos would be romantic with lots of details, but yet tranquil, we made sure Django was wearing a colour that blend in very well with the whole look, but he sure doesn’t get lost in all the prettiness. The light grey suit is timeless.
Naomi from Pen to Paper is an amazing calligraphist who really puts a lot of thought into details. She also used the wallpaper as an inspiration for her work. Her work is delicate and it has a historical feel to it because of the hand pressed paper. She created beautiful flat lays that gave us the feeling of being chased by butterflies in spring, happy to feel the warmth and light rising up, with ancient keys that bring us to hidden places in the mansion."
