It's on every current bride's mind right now - Do you postpone to Fall or reschedule into 2021? It's a very tough and personal decision for every couple and whatever the decision, it will be right for you but we know the inner turmoil you have right now so we're on hand to offer up some advice with one of our Fine Art Curation members, Amanda Callaway Photography.

Amanda is based in California and shoots weddings and events all over the world so she has been on the forefront of helping her couple's reschedule their own wedding days recently. Read on for her super helpful tips to help you decide on what is best for you....

"While living in very uncertain times right now, and not knowing what the next day will hold, we can all take to heart knowing that we are not alone. There is not one person going through this pandemic by themselves. This time last year, many of you were getting engaged and planning your 2020 wedding! Little did we know what was ahead. Many brides have postponed their wedding and as a wedding photographer I want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for postponing and not canceling. Thank you for having hope.

Being a bride a few years back, I can not imagine planning a wedding through what is going on in the world and what is being plastered all over the media. However, I want to help YOU and give you some tips to postponing your wedding - and give you some benefits to perhaps staying in 2020 instead of 2021. I have also got some advice from two of my very close friends (who I am actually standing in their weddings this year) to help give you advice as well!

I first want to begin by saying with all that is going on, try to limit your time listening to the media to about 30 min max. Remember the real reason and root for your wedding (postponed or not). You are marrying the love of your life! Your partner for life! If you can go through a worldwide pandemic, nothing will separate the two of you. This will only make you stronger.

Having the two options of postponing to Fall or 2021 can be challenging. If you are leaning more towards Fall I don’t blame you! Autumnal weddings are some of our favorites (the weather can still be amazing all over the world and the florals are to die for), plus, this is your year! And nothing should take that away from you. Not even COVID-19. There are a few plus sides to postponing to the Fall instead of next year: (Please keep in mind these are just thoughtful ideas - if you cannot postpone your wedding in the year 2020, there is no shame in that at all!)

THE WEDDING INDUSTRY NEEDS YOU

Vendors are chomping the bit to begin working again! Myself included. I am pretty positive we all want to get the economy back to where it once it was. By keeping your wedding in the 2020 calendar year, you are helping keep your vendors alive as well as leaving more dates open for the 2021 year for new clients.

DISCOUNTS & AVAILABILITY

Since vendors are ready to get back into normal life again, some vendors may have more availability in the Fall as well as offering discounts. Especially for those who might need new vendors due to choosing a new date. I know speaking for myself, I am currently offering 15% off for bookings happening from August 2020 - March 2021. This is simply to give back to you all and to help you as a couple out during this crazy time.

A NEW COUNTDOWN

Come Fall of this year, things should be slowing down no matter what State you are living in. Remember life has to go back to normal at some point in time. Maybe your wedding is that thing that gets people back to their normal!

"Whether you are postponing your wedding or wondering how to celebrate after times like these know that it is okay to be happy during a pandemic. It is okay to enjoy time with your family, find that new hobby, be excited about your wedding! Happiness and joy are what get us through. We are social creatures by nature, by craving time with others and gathering that is what we were made for. Have joy! You have found your soul mate and that deserves a celebration! Heres to all you 2020 and 2021 brides!"

A huge thanks to Amanda Callaway Photography for providing some insight to some points to consider if you're postponing your wedding to later this year or next. We hope it goes some way in helping you to take courage in choosing a new date and celebrating a new countdown!
