Pink, White & Gold Real Wedding

What happens when a wedding blogger gets married? A whole heap of pretty, that's what! Bride to be Rebecca is the blogger behind the wonderful London based Urban Flip Flops so when Rebecca was faced with the task of planning and styling her own wedding we can imagine she had a refined style already! Armed with a plethora of talented vendors contact numbers, Rebecca and Frans managed to keep their wedding day stylish yet personable. Fun and pretty was the order of the day from photographer Abby Jiu and we love it! Keep those eyes peeled for the cute edition of Sir Oliver, the couples' pet pooch!

"Frans and I got married in London in June. We had just moved to the UK when we got engaged and after quite a few months of back and forth between locations of getting married, we decided that the city we lived in was the best. I am from the States and Frans is from Holland, our guests spanned from Shanghai to Seattle, so why not get married in the middle, in the city that was our new home."

"Having worked in the events and catering business since I graduated university, I was excited for planning our wedding on my own. The details were super important to me but  I also wanted those details to be full of elements that were special to our relationship for the past 8 years. Having just moved to not only a new city, but also a new country, searching for the vendors I wanted to work with, and trusted, took a lot of time and effort, as everyone was new. I did a lot of searching through UK photographers blogs, Pinterest, and other wedding blogs. I hired our vendors and created the style and design I wanted for our wedding on our own. We were engaged for 19 months and being that the decisions were much harder to make then I thought, the long engagement was good."

"Our wedding was filled with a lot of pink. The colours were pink, black & white and gold. I wanted the look to be pretty and romantic with a LOT of sparkle for the party! I wanted the all over feel of the night to be a pretty sophisticated dinner party. I told people to dress up, its a party! Frans and I love to entertain so I wanted it to be very much be a reflection of us. We added in a lot of personal touches throughout the evening from our custom crest to menu items that reflected where we had lived and travelled together. It was very US as a couple and that was so important. From the bridesmaids sparkly gowns to the guys in their white dinner jackets, I felt like it was the prettiest dinner party I had ever been to!"

"We had a mix of centerpieces on all of the tables. The wedding party and dates sat at our long center table which I had a custom table runner made with our crest on it. We glittered LOTS of candle votives and mixed them in with Jay’s vintage candles and vases throughout the reception. I wanted a lot of flowers, but I didn’t want it to look to “done”, more natural pretty. Jay put a mix of all pink flowers into vases, and glasses throughout the tables. I love the style of a mix of all different types of vases. We had mercury glass, clear vintage vases, glittered vases. The flowers were a mix of our bouquet flowers: peonies {some the size of my face, huge, BEAUTIFUL}, garden roses, sweet peas, dahlias, zinnias, we even mixed in carnations since they were Frans’ grandmothers favorite flower. It was a wonderful filler flower that doesn't cost much and in the mix of all of them, you couldn't tell."

"To decorate the tent a bit but not break the budget, I had Jay add a few Olive trees, she also created the amazing flower chandelier that tied in some greenery, peonies and a mix of other flowers, I wanted to sleep on the tables, under the chandelier that night; it smelled like a garden and was so beautiful! Also, after a lot of back and forth and quotes of draping the back wall, we decided on “floating” flowers tied on the back wall and adding in the church wreath, I think it was PERFECT."

"To all other brides, you've spent months and maybe years preparing for your big day, don't waste it being worried about the ribbon around the napkin. I was so glad we had Elizabeth and Andri to help tie our day together. I TRULY enjoyed getting ready with my bridesmaids and moms SO much. I made sequin hangers, had special coffees and goodies for them. I wanted the morning to be relaxing and enjoyable and it was on every level. I trusted them to pull it all together. Do your research and hire good vendors. I spent A LOT of time browsing UK wedding blogs, sites, photographers sites to find suppliers and see their work. Hiring professional people you trust will give you a sense of calm on your day. Don't settle. I had a clear vision of what our wedding marquee would look like. Pink, glittery and romantic.  I knew I couldn't afford to drape the whole thing with flowers and fabric but with talking with Jay we came up with some touches that weren't as expensive (the chandelier, hanging flowers)."
