European style blue and peach editorial on Lake Erie

Sep 24, 2021 | Inspiration

A gorgeous destination wedding in Europe is the ultimate dream for many of us but with long-haul travel off the agenda, we're all about achieving continental style on home shores. Today's editorial takes place at the lakefront Shoreby Club in Ohio, which could easily be mistaken for Italy’s beloved Lake Como. Fine Art Curation member Belinda Jean Photography captured the romantic shoot all on film for the timeless nature, delicate beauty and nostalgic sentiment we all love about film photography.

Clara Armagast from Jet Wed Co curated the editorial and shares her inspiration: "As a destination elopement planner, I have spent the last year finding hidden gems and locations in unexpected places that could bring those visions back to life for brides impacted by travel restrictions.

"In this instance, Cleveland’s Shoreby Club situated on Lake Erie paid homage to the romantic villas in Lake Como while the décor gave a nod to classic French patterns. The lush green lawn and mixed blue tones of the water were complemented by floral arrangements by Pieter Bouterse Studio. Pieter drew his design inspiration from the history, culture and architecture of Lago di Como. He created a floral display that felt garden-esque and ethereal. The feeling overall was a sumptuous, but still intimate setting that brought together old-world sophistication with a contemporary freshness.

"Sugared Fig Paperie designed a custom stationery suite using handmade, deckled edge paper. The tones of blush and blue complemented each other to reflect the romantic side of Lake Como along with the rich blue hues of water. An ivy-covered escort display held Aperol Spritz drinks with custom toile tags bearing traditional Italian names.

"The three-tier cake by Alex Robba Cake was inspired by the Toile de Jouy textile throughout the wedding design. An entire tier overlaid with printed wafer paper featuring the pattern then embellished with fondant molding. Gumpaste sugar flowers in soft romantic hues were inspired by the kind one might find growing lakeside upon stone pillars or arches in Lake Como."
