Classic blue and white wedding with modern touches in St. Louis
We love learning of the ways couples weave family traditions into their wedding day, like Abigail and Patrick who married in the same church as Abi's great-grandparents, grandparents and parents, and shared the same reception venue - The Coronado in St Louis - as her grandparents as well. The couple also replicated one of Abi's grandparent’s wedding portraits in front of the same fireplace at The Coronado and displayed the original portrait of her grandparents at the entrance to their reception. How sweet!
Missouri wedding photographer and Fine Art Curation member Ashley Carrington Photography captured their elegant blue and white wedding, which was full of personal modern touches. Abi wore a stunning Carolina Herrera gown and then later changed into a sleek silk number with a playful ruffled top while the bridesmaids wore mismatched blue and white gowns.
"The couple shared their first look on the rooftop of the Angard Arts Hotel, overlooking the St Louis cityscape," explains Ashley. "We captured a few portraits outside of the hotel, and then met their bridal party (this was such a fun moment for everyone to see them for the first time!) to board the charming St Louis trolley."
Flourish Events helped the couple balance classic, vintage details with playful, modern, colorful touches throughout the day. Abi's mum’s ginger jars were used as table centerpieces, each filled with a unique arrangement - from topiaries to tulips and hydrangeas. The centerpieces were paired with modern white scalloped chargers and playful table numbers and place cards. For the reception ‘head table’ they placed a long curved table in the middle of the reception with a blue and white patterned table linen. Instead of cake, they opted for slices of pie to be set out for their guests which felt more true and authentic to them!
