A Scandinavian Wedding Weekend at Smådalarö Gård
Following on from Annelie and Matt's welcome party, their wedding day deserves a feature of its own. From a quiet first look to a joyful ceremony and a surprise Second Line through the grounds of Smådalarö Gård, every part of the day unfolded with a sense of ease and celebration.
For Annelie, it was love at first sight when she met Matt at work in New York, although as colleagues neither acted on their feelings straight away. It wasn't until an evening dinner near Bryant Park that their story truly began. Seven years later, during a family holiday in Costa Rica, Matt told Annelie there were sea turtles hatching on the beach and persuaded her to take a walk with him. There were no turtles waiting. Instead, he surprised her with a proposal that she never saw coming.
Travelling from New York to Sweden to marry, the couple welcomed 160 guests for a weekend in the Stockholm Archipelago, where beautiful surroundings, thoughtful details and time spent together took centre stage. Rather than a traditional bridal party, Annelie and Matt chose to have their siblings walk them down the aisle, while two of Matt's closest college friends officiated the ceremony together, bringing warmth and humour to the occasion.
Annelie wore a custom couture gown by Stockholm-based couturier Fadi El Khoury, featuring delicate floral lace and a cathedral-length veil that complemented the natural setting perfectly. After exchanging vows, guests were surprised by a lively Second Line, with musicians leading everyone from the ceremony into the celebrations ahead. It was an unforgettable moment that set the tone for the evening.
The photographs by Wedding Sparrow Fine Art Curation member 2 Brides capture every part of the day with honesty and elegance. There is laughter in almost every frame, music woven throughout the celebrations and an atmosphere that feels effortless from beginning to end. As the evening continued, Annelie changed into a playful short dress while Matt swapped his jacket for a sparkling sequin version, ready for the celebrations to continue. Guests added touches of glitter to their faces before gathering around a champagne tower, setting the scene for an after-party filled with energy and joy. The celebrations carried on into the original summer house, where late-night servings of korv and chocolate milk provided the perfect ending to a memorable wedding weekend.
