Winter Wedding Inspiration in Jewel Tones
Nothing says 'cozy winter wedding' like opulent tones and rich fabrics. We're warming right up with this beauty of an inspiration shoot by photographer Judy Pak, designed by stylist Laura Remmert Events, at the gorgeous and luxe Wave Hill venue. Feast your eyes on this fine art pretty as we near the holidays, perfect timing for some wedding planning!
From stylist Laura Remmert Events: "Wave Hill is an incredibly beautiful venue that is often only thought of for summer and fall weddings when you can take full advantage of the stunning gardens and outdoor spaces. It’s a hidden gem in Riverdale, technically still in NYC, but feels like you’re miles away from the city. Wedding guests are able to stay in NYC for the weekend or stay in Westchester, both are convenient for transportation to the gardens.
The indoor spaces at Wave Hill House are just as beautiful as the outdoor spaces, it’s like hosting a wedding in your own private mansion! When coordinating a late fall wedding this year, we had to move the entire wedding indoors due to inclement weather. It was a rainy cold day and Wave Hill House felt very intimate and cozy, perfect for a wedding of 120 guests. It was at this time we started discussing Wave Hill as an option for winter and early spring weddings. Where else can you have guests staying in NYC travel only 20-30 minutes to arrive at a private mansion for a wedding?
We designed this shoot to be cozy, a bit modern, fresh and very romantic. We worked with grey velveteen linens for a cozy winter base. Denise Fasanello designed beautiful flowers in rich, muted, antique tones in an antique gold container for a romantic touch, while we kept the table setting modern with matte plates and matte gold flatware. For the ceremony we designed an asymmetrical backdrop with flowering quince branches and tons of candlelight to accent the already beautiful space.
Great Performances Chefs created a unique salad – “Winter Table” featuring a Poached Pear and Blue Cheese Marble on Black Pepper Sable & White Balsamic Vinaigrette. This salad was created as a fun riff on a typical plate of greens. A savory, crispy black pepper sablé is topped with creamy blue cheese and ripe winter pears for a hearty, decadent treat that’s still light and refreshing – a perfect first course, that also looked perfect with the décor!
INSPIRATION FROM REGAS (PAPERGOODS) Our suite celebrates the textures of winter. We pulled this concept from the setting itself - Wave Hill in the winter is a showcase of whites and browns and muted nature - and from the colors of the flowers and event table decor. Our invitations were hand calligraphed in a deep burgundy tone pulled from the floral arrangements and were lined in an individual marbled paper pattern. The variances in each speckled piece of paper used perfectly matched the nature of the rich grey velvet cloths on each table - all with subtle differences and complex color."
