From Blush + Bowties: "Set against an industrial loft backdrop, this editorial is all about grace, romance, and dancing with light. The shoot was captured by the talented fine art photographer Therese from Artiese Studios and visionary cinematographers Ricardo and Victoria from Outside In.
When curating a shoot, I am attracted to juxtaposing designs. I loved the idea of taking ethereal and soft design elements and placing them against an industrial backdrop. District 28 was the ideal venue for the day from its large loft windows, white brick walls, and show-stopping cyclorama with cascading natural light. We truly lucked out with our ballerina bride for the day, Morgan, who wore Dan Jones Unbridaled from Loversland, and who eloquently told the story of our shoot with her grace and beauty. Morgan’s natural beauty was elevated by makeup and hair artist Amy-Beth of Bespoke Beauty, who played up our model’s fresh freckled face and auburn locks.
I wanted our tablescape to feel like all the elements flowed into one another organically. The soft draped linens came from Silk and Willow and from Simply Beautiful decor, who also supplied the stunning wicker Louis XVI chairs. Tellie from Coriander Girl contributed the romantic and whimsical centrepiece, along with the bountiful bouquet, accented with the prettiest shades of colours a gal could ask for. Vintage-style plates were supplied by Plate Occasions along with brass candlesticks, goblets, and matte gold flatware, which added just a hint of the industrial vibe to the tablescape. Each place setting was adorned with a calligraphed cotton-paper place card, handwritten by Blush + Bowties’ own Jessy Lalancette, and hand stamped with a wax seal. Jessy also calligraphed coordinating stationery for the shoot on cotton, deckle-edge paper from Silk and Willow.
Our romantic sweets table was supplied by the talented Amanda Foong Cakes. When Amanda and I chatted about the design of the cakes, we loved the idea of mix and matching styles, all complementing the ethereal aesthetic. The cyclorama space (known as studio 3) at District 28 was such an exciting space to work in and an ideal room to showcase our industrial copper arch adorned with a botanical garland. At the base of the arch, we placed brass candlesticks and finished the look with bunches of salt rocks. As the day of the shoot progressed, the loft windows cast beams of natural light throughout the space. One of my very favourite scenes of the day was having Morgan dance in the cascading light."
