Bio

Beaulieu Garden is a private, family-owned estate and one of the oldest wine-producing vineyards in Napa Valley, California. In 1899 French winemaker Georges de Latour purchased this parcel of farmland and planted the first 600 acres of European grape stock in the Napa Valley. He had come to the Valley with the intention of growing French grapes in California and decided to surprise his wife, Fernande, with this stunning piece of property. When she saw the land, she exclaimed “Quel beau lieu!” (What a beautiful place!) and thus became the name of this extraordinary private estate in St. Helena.

The quarter mile drive leading into the estate is lined with magnificent sycamore trees with their leafy branches touching overhead to provide an elegant canopy entrance. Old stone fountains, reflecting pools and elegant statues can be found throughout the park-like gardens. Just beyond the original stone winery is a beautiful thick sycamore arbor, a perfect setting for al fresco dinner celebrations. The sunken garden features a stone pool of lilies and a cherub fountain and has been the site of many romantic ceremonies.
