What to Wear For your Engagement Photo Shoot
Decisions, decisions. With so much inspiration across the internet, it can be difficult to decide on how you want your engagement session to look when you start to plan it. Lucky for our readers, we have a plethora of talented and experienced vendors in what makes a timeless image of you and your loved one, so today we invited Fine Art Curation member Shay Photography to share her advice on What To Wear for Your Engagement Session...
Are you planning an Engagement Photo shoot with your special someone? Feeling baffled at how to prepare for amazing photos. Well, while it is very important to look effortlessly stylish for your Engagement photo shoot it is also important not to loose your mind over it. So before you hop on a shopping spree, I suggest my clients to consider the 3C's - Clothes, Colors & Curves...
While the thumb rule suggests, what clothes you wear depends on your comfort and style. I often recommend my clients to consider dressing for an "Afternoon Tea Date". Something fun and flirty will help you nail your engagement photo shoot. A chic knee length dress can be very cool with a pair of heels, or if you are a denims person, then pairing your jeans with an off-shouldered top or a halter neck can give that dressy look. Do bear in mind the season, weather and location, when choosing your outfit.
Accessorizing the outfit is as important as the outfit itself. If you love sporting a hat then this is your time to flaunt your favorite, from your collection, or if you have a hand bag fetish, then you can rock a cool hand bag on your engagement shoot. Be careful, do not go overboard with it.
Comfortable pair of footwear is the key to relaxed posing, if you love heels like me, then I also suggest you to carry a pair of flats, to relax your tired feet in-between shoots.
At the risk of being cliched I suggest "Less is More” - and that will do the trick. Avoid glittery eyeshadow or highlighter, any professional makeup artist can help you nail the perfect natural makeup look.
Again while choosing the colors of your outfit for your photo shoot, please bear in mind the location, where you plan to do the photo shoot. While it is not required that you and your partner should wear matching clothes, rather is a Big NO-NO. Neutrals are a safe bet for photo shoots, not only are they soothing to the eye, they are less overpowering. Strong colors like Fuchsia or bright red tend to attract more attention on the outfit, and less on the couple.
Your body shape is something that you want to use to your advantage for a photo shoot, I always encourage my clients to enhance their best physical feature when they are choosing an outfit. So an A-line dress will help you enhance your curves, while a V-neck makes your neck look longer, halter-necks and textured fabric can make you look fuller. Last but not the least, keep it natural and keep it simple :)
