This Non-Traditional Indian Celebration Enabled This Couple To Showcase Their Original Wedding Ideas
Indian weddings are truly a celebration. But what happens when you can't have the big Indian wedding you were planning? Today's couple shows us how, although heartbroken, they managed to still involve their family from far away, include their culture in the portrait session, and get the images they'll frame on their wall for years to come thanks to Fine Art Curation member Mon Soleil Weddings. From the Bride's intricate Lehenga and gorgeous makeup from Verde Beauty to the Facetime to their families, every detail of this affair is truly stunning...
From Marissa at Mon Soleil Weddings: "When Priyanka & Jai first contacted me, they shared that they chose to have a courthouse wedding back in March of 2020. They had a grand Indian wedding planned but felt heart broken that they didn't begin marriage as they had envisioned.
Priyanka had traveled to India in 2019 where some of her family is still located. While she was in India, she ordered the traditional Indian wedding attire (Lehenga) for their wedding. Jai remained back in the states, and when she booked their session with us, he had yet to see the dress. As I learned how special this shoot would mean to them, I began to dream up ways to expand the shoot and to bring their experience to focus. After sharing these ideas with Priyanka and Jai, they were thrilled and added many more of their own ideas.
Both of their mom's traveled to New Orleans to help them get dressed and to share in the experience. It felt as if it were a real wedding day! They were facetiming their dads, grandparents, siblings, and friends - they were shocked - tears and laughter was shared. You could tell that this meant everything to them! During Priyanka's dressing, her dad watched through the phone. He said, "I'm sorry this isn't as you had dreamt." Priyanka replied, "It's perfect, and we'll still have our big celebration when the time is right."
We traveled to the park where Priyanka revealed her Lehenga (traditional Indian wedding attire) to Jai as the moms watched on full of joy! The four of them came together to partake in wedding traditions they weren't able to do back in March, they popped champagne, and read their wedding vows to each other. THIS is what makes this non-traditional / non-wedding so special. They made it their own, and they made their own rules! Couples need to know that this is ok - all that matters is the two of them and the ones they love most. This will be an experience they cherish forever!"
