FromHana Holdener: "I wanted to explore the idea of combining vibrant golden autumn leaves with neutral nude and biscuit palette set against the lavish historical features (with many golden details) of Schloss Eckartsau. I have used tinted brown flowers such as tulips, lilies as well as hydrangeas. I used to frown at the idea of tinted flowers. Horrible blue chrysanthemum and rainbow roses would come to mind. But there has been a lot of progress in dying techniques recently and sometimes I really have to wonder whether it's natural or not. So (some) tinted flowers are a great way to explore more unusual colour pallets such as nude and brown as these are not readily available colours in the floral world. I have completed my florals with white flowers, dried elements (dried hydrangeas, ferns, etc) as well as foraged greenery from the castle park. I have also used white pom pom chrysanthemum as chrysanthemums have, undeservedly, a bad reputation among many brides. So I wanted to show off these seasonal beauties as they are great for adding more texture to the tone in tone arrangements.

A curious note about the venue. It used to be a hunting "lodge" (it's a castle really) of the imperial family connected to Vienna with a straight alley which remains are still visible today. It was also the last residence of the emperor Charles I of Austria, the disempowered last Austrian emperor, before setting off into exile."
