Sail cloth tent summer wedding in Upstate New York
Nadia and J.Edward met at Cornell University so it was only fitting to return to the Finger Lakes region to host their stunning summer wedding at the Inns of Aurora. "Bringing family from Colorado and Maryland to really enjoy a weekend in the place we fell in love was important," explains bride Nadia. "We wanted our friends and family to experience and appreciate the fullness of the region and how it has shaped who we are as a couple."
Nadia and J.Edward's summer wedding took place in an elegant sail cloth tent on the calm shores of Cayuga Lake. The day was beautifully captured by Upstate New York wedding photographer and Fine Art Curation member Mary Dougherty, who captured every exquisite detail in her signature light and natural style.
Over to Nadia to tell us more: "Our weekend started off at the Stone House in Aurora, with a dinner for those closest to us and a welcome party for all of our other guests. We mingled, played games and watched a slideshow with more than enough childhood photos.
"On the wedding day, I had the best time getting ready with my girls. I found my Monique Lhulliher dress in Denver, and it was everything I wanted. Once I put it on my mom gave me a look that gave me all the confidence I needed. Everyone was convinced - we’d found the perfect one that embodied everything I wanted to look and feel on our wedding day.
"Meanwhile, J was downstairs with his guys, and after a quick first look in the privacy of the room we met everyone and got the day started. After more than a year of planning, it was so satisfying to see all of the details come together. But to be honest, we realized that all of that planning contributed to the smallest fraction of the day’s success. Between the most memorable speeches from our family and friends, the endless energy on the dance floor, or the enthusiastic cheering throughout our ceremony, the energy of the day transported all of us.
"As the sun was setting, I remember standing by Lake Cayuga with J while gazing out towards all of our family and friends. We’d once stood at another part of that lake while attending Cornell without any understanding of where life would lead us - to the sweetest love and the most joyous day we’d ever known."
