Relaxed “Minimoon” Getaway Weekend
While many couples dream of, and plan, destination honeymoon trips for the week after their weddings, we are seeing a resurgence in a postponed honeymoon and a lovely little 'weekend after' minimoon. Some couples are instead saving up and planning an extravagant trip later on in the year or they crave simplicity and effortlessness after their hectic (and wonderful!) weddings.
We are actually huge proponents of this 'minimoon' and know of a few close friends of ours who have done this. Feeling breathless from the casual feel and relaxed atmosphere of this lake house minimoon, we are fawning over these photographs by Wedding Sparrow favorite Matoli Keely, designed by Linda Ha Events.
EFFORTLESS
One main reason a couple may choose to postpone their honeymoon is the chaos that is a wedding. Although equal parts dreamy and magical, not many brides can say their wedding weekend was not just a teeny bit stressful. An extended lake house weekend, complete with cozy maxi dresses, a french market bag for picnic supplies, and some great vino, sounds like the ultimate way to take it all in - you are finally married!
A "LATERMOON"
We actually adore the idea of planning a trip for later in the year with your love! You can plan together, as husband a wife! Besides the romanticism of planning together, there are a few logistics that will be much easier to deal with. You can give yourself some time to change your name on your ID and passport, therefore traveling together under your new name. We've heard the horror stories of couples who forgot their documents or bought tickets under their new married name, even though their name had not legally changed. YIKES!
After adjusting to becoming a wife and a husband, grab some monogrammed passport covers in your new name and head somewhere epic for a romantic trip.
