Natural Farmhouse Real Wedding
You know what's a modern way of meeting your future spouse? Meeting them on a dating app, then finding them in your kitchen one random night later! "My husband and I met on a dating app, but not in a conventional way. We matched on Hinge and briefly chatted but we never ended up planning a date. Two months later, my roommate had some friends over and he happened to be standing in my kitchen when I got out of bed to get a glass of water. I recognized him and we realized that we had chatted before on Hinge. The next day I jokingly messaged him, “thanks for coming over last night” and he replied, “we should do it again sometime.” We went on a real date the following week and we’ve been together ever since."

From the Bride, Marisa: "My birthday is right around the holidays so every year John surprises me with a Christmas tree as one of my gifts. When we got engaged I knew he was planning on setting up the tree but I didn’t know that there was going to be something extra special underneath it: a ring. To top it off, it started snowing right after I said “Yes!”. It was magical.
I found my dress very early on, and quite quickly. I went to a showroom in New York with a couple of my girlfriends and after I tried on the fourth gown, I knew. It was the easiest decision I ever made, besides marrying John of course! My gown was the Stevie Gown designed by Alexandra Grecco. I liked the clean lines but was most excited by the back floral beaded detailing. The fabric wasn’t too heavy and I felt like myself in it. John wore a classic black suit with a black bowtie. We opted for a suit instead of a tux since our venue felt more casual.
I’m a graphic designer so I was able to design all of my stationery and print materials myself. We kept it simple and used some neutral layered papers for the invitation suite which carried into the day-of pieces: our dinner menus and signage. Kristine at Presshaus in LA helped print everything.
My favorite part about planning our wedding was looking at flowers! Amanda at Studio Imbue was a huge help and really made my vision come to life. She used lots of dusty tones and some really beautiful textural elements in our arrangements. Her team even brought in some foraged brush from a field nearby to create our ceremony arch.
I tried to plan everything pretty far in advance so we were less stressed and had time to really soak in our wedding week. I also spent a lot of time at the gym and drank plenty of water.
I walked down the aisle to a harp arrangement of Bon Iver’s Holocene. Our first dance was to Jesus Etc. By Wilco–it was the first concert we ever went to together.
My favorite moment of the day was when John and I read our vows to each other. We decided to read them privately before the ceremony during our first look. The moment was filled with such raw emotion and I loved how intimate it was."
