How to Plan a Stylish Micro Wedding
With 2020 turning the world upside down, many engaged couples have taken some time to re-evaluate their priorities. So today we have Fine Art Curation member Serenity Photography to walk us through creating a Stylish Micro Wedding!
"Traditional big weddings can be very stressful and overwhelming. You have to please many people, can be forced to make some choices that don’t represent you as a couple, and end up spending one of the most important days of your life surrounded by people you don’t even know. Micro weddings, on the other hand, are much easier to plan and will be a celebration that is more true to you. A micro wedding can be as small as just two of you or include up to 30 dear-to-your-heart guests. But having a short list of attendees doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate in style. If anything, downsizing would only free some budget that you can invest in a more elegant high end event in some of the most exclusive and spellbinding destinations."
CHOOSE A DREAM LOCATION
One of the biggest advantages of a micro wedding is freedom to choose any location in the world to exchange your vows. You can pick a fairytale French chateau or a romantic Italian villa, blissful Maldives beach, breathtaking scenery of Iceland or remote mountains of Patagonia. There is an abundance of venues that can accommodate intimate nuptials and provide you and your guests with the most luxurious and memorable experience. My recommendation is to choose a place you both love: it can be a destination that brings you great memories or a place you’ve always dreamed to visit. Even if you choose to get married surrounded by nature, you don’t have to go for “dirty boots and messy hair” concept. Your celebration can still be chic and luxurious.
CHOOSE A SEASON
Once you’ve decided on the location start thinking what season you prefer as it would directly influence your experience and aesthetics of the wedding. Many locations can be closed or difficult to access in certain seasons. Season will also dictate availability and choice of flowers, so if you are set on particular blooms or colour palette for your celebration, better to discuss this in advance with your florist.
EMBRACE THE EXPERIENCE
Micro wedding should be all about your experience. Make it memorable and chic, even if it is just the two of you. Choose a beautiful location to get ready, book a professional hair and makeup artist, bring a stunning lace robe, write personalised vows - every detail of your day should feel special. Don’t be afraid to spoil yourself. And you don’t need to limit celebration to only one day, make it into a week or two, travel, enjoy the experience and create memories with your spouse and guests.
MAKE BEAUTIFUL INVITATIONS
Work with a calligrapher to create a custom invitation suite, that you can keep as a family heirloom. Include the location, handmade paper and beautiful envelopes.
BE FASHION FORWARD
When it comes to bridal fashion, I find that big weddings often force brides to go for a safe choice: traditional white gown that would please all guests. Although there is nothing wrong with a traditional dress, this decision is often dictated by limited budget and excess of opinions. Brides considering a micro wedding are not afraid to choose a statement fashion forward gown. There are so many stylish choices by the most exclusive designers, and the entire experience will become more special if you wear a gown that makes you feel and look beautiful.
INVEST IN FLOWERS
Live flowers have an incredible power to embellish any space. Work with a fine art florist who will create beautiful bouquet and arrangements for the ceremony and reception. Even if it is a table for two, a small flower arrangement and candlelight will create a special atmosphere.
HIRE A PROFESSIONAL FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER
When it comes to capturing memories of your wedding day hiring a professional fine art photographer can make a big difference. A photographer who has refined aesthetics and style will make timeless magazine-worthy pictures: where every detail is beautifully captured, poses are flattering, and nothing is out of place. Fine art wedding photographers will understand the importance of light, harmonious composition and connection.
Before you choose a photographer check different portfolios to decide what aesthetic speaks the most to you and arrange for a video call to see who you will connect with the most. When photographer is inspired by your love story they will go above and beyond to provide you with the best experience. And don’t forget that magical images happen as a result of creative collaboration between you and photographer: so make sure to share your vision and expectations. Professional photographers will share their knowledge and experience to help you plan a perfect and stylish micro wedding.
