Jun 12, 2018 | Weddings

I love a good tear-jerker wedding and this sweet wedding of Elizabeth and Matthew is the perfect Tuesday pick-me-up we all need. Photographer Michelle Boyd Photography captured their day to perfection so if you're looking for understated glamor and timeless wedding style (styled by Westcott Weddings), get your Pinterest buttons ready...

From Michelle Boyd Photography: "Elizabeth and Matthew were married on the most picturesque day here in Austin, TX. As evidenced by the genuine people they were surrounded by throughout the day, both bride and groom are incredibly loved. Getting through their ceremony was one of my most challenging professional moments to date, as I was tearing up as well! Matthew’s reaction to seeing his bride would bring tears to even the most stoic of guests."

What was the inspiration for your wedding day design?

The venue of Laguna Gloria served as our greatest inspiration. The space is full of character, history, warmth and charm that combined to inform a style we felt was timeless, sophisticated and imbued with Old World world elegance.

Favorite part of wedding planning / favorite detail?

Most specifically: Elizabeth’s handmade mantilla veil, which captured an Old World flare. Generally: Seeing our vision realized by a collection of artists — from invitation designers to our photographer, caterer and florist — was truly moving. We adored the small, personalized details, like the sketch of Laguna Gloria on the invitation and the illustration of our dog, Ziggy, on the bar menu.

Words of advice to brides (or grooms) -to-be?

It’s OK (great, even) for this to feel really important and meaningful, and take ease knowing that everything will work out. Also, invest time and thought into your ceremony to make it personal and meaningful. And take a second during the big day to look around and take in all the love from the people who have joined on that day to celebrate you.

Favorite memory from your wedding day?

Matthew: Seeing Elizabeth appear at the top of the steps.

Elizabeth: The first dance was a moment of love and celebration and an opportunity to not just feel held by one another but to be supported by the love of our friends and family.

Did your ceremony include any special verses or readings?
We wrote our ceremony together with our officiant, the groom’s sister, and it truly reflected our values. There were readings of “Touched by an Angel” by Maya Angelou (by the bride’s brother and sister-in-law); e.e. Cummings’ “[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]” (by the best man); a friend led the congregation in “All You Need is Love” before the exchange of rings; the maid of honor sang “Carolina in My Mind;” the friend from the service sang “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin; the groom’s mother read from Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” at the reception; and a friend of the groom read a verse from Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings’ “Good Hearted Woman” during the reception.

Anything else you want to say about your wedding day - go for it!
It was everything we dreamed it could be and more.

The wedding looked beautiful! Can you please tell me where the bride purchased her shoes?
