Castle Wedding for a Dubai Couple
We're not sure whether it was the castle scene, the Bride's beyond gorgeous style or the quaint reception setting, but we could have sworn this slice of beauty was a styled shoot at first sight. That's how incredibly pretty this Dutch wedding day is. This couple came all the way form Dubai to The Netherlands to get married in this beautiful castle. Captured by Fine Art Curation member Alexandra Vonk, it'll transport you to another world, where an elegant inspired style meets a secret garden.
"Sadi and I met in Dubai and became best friends instantly. A deep connection and bond formed over the years. We opened a business together during our friendship, and became each others confidant and support in life. After two years our friendship evolved into a relationship. It didn’t take long before we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We are without a doubt soulmates, and ‘the one’ for each other.
As per Arabic tradition, Sadi’s family asked my father for my hand in marriage in May 2018. We had a beautiful ceremony at Sadi’s parental home in Abu Dhabi with both our families present. The official proposal was quite the event! Sadi spent months organizing the dream proposal with help of a Dutch television crew. Without my knowing there was a hidden Television crew following us around all day. We had lunch in Amsterdam South after which we drove to Scheveningen for a surprise romantic horse ride on the beach. At the end of the ride we came to a beautiful set-up on the beach; Fire torches, pillows, champagne, rose petals, and the ring! Sadi went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We then went to a beautiful dinner where all our friends were waiting for us.
Prior to the moment I remember feeling this nervous excitement as if you knew an incredible gift was given to you and you couldn’t wait to open it and see what was inside. The day was picturesque; the sun gleaming through a few lonely clouds. I remember hearing the water of the castle’s fountain soothing my anxiety. The camera staring at me reminding me of the importance of the moment. My back turned to the castle I heard gasps of awe from few behind me. I gripped hands to steady my nerves. The camera man cued me to turn around. My body froze. A sweat drop broke down the side of my face. I remember desperately trying to plant one foot around and then the other to turn my head ever so slowly, savoring the suspense. I caught my first glimpse of my jaw dropping bride in her fairytale dress that followed her like a mountain stream. My eyes caught hers, her smile radiating from ear to ear, her beautiful whisps of hair shimmering in the sun. My eyes swole as I knew it was finally real. Today was the day we joined our lives together.
We planned our wedding quite soon after our engagement, so we didn’t have a lot of time (only 3 months) to plan. I would recommend taking a bit more time, and hiring a wedding planner. Even if you are an event planner by profession like me, it’s still very different when it’s your own special day and (for us) a different country! The suppliers you choose make a huge difference. For example, I spoke to 4 different florists before making a decision we felt completely happy with. Our suppliers made all the difference on the day! The photos and videos are so important, and we are forever grateful to Alexandra Vonk and The Dreamers for capturing our day the way they did. We have memories for life, and so many moments that we didn’t see until we received the photo’s and videos."
