A WOW Engagement Session from Yosemite National Park

Jun 22, 2020 | Engagements

If you're looking for engagement session inspo, then stop right here. Photographer KT Merry dropped this chin-on-the-floor engagement session of Cheryl & Sam in Yosemite National Park into our inbox recently and we were suitably wow-ed. If you're looking for some timeless nature-bound background for your engagement shoot, consider a National Park and all it's stunning beauty - nature never goes out of style...

From bride, Cheryl: "Sam and I had lived less than five miles away from each other in Orange County for about a year or so before we crossed paths online in March 2016. We grabbed coffee on our first date; Sam was so adorably nervous that after he had introduced himself, he called me “Carol” and not by my actual name. I still tease him about that, and luckily—just like how we vibed so well via text—we instantly clicked on our first date. From that moment onwards, our adventure began."

"After dating for two years, Sam surprised me with a trip to Yosemite—a very dear place that holds incredible childhood memories as well as memories of our journey as a couple. We stayed at the historic Ahwahnee in a cozy cottage during off-season in February. There were no crowds—just Mother Nature at work. The second day of our trip, Sam seemed very giddy and a bit nervous. Sam mentioned he wanted us to take this trip because he finally had an opportunity to de-stress from his Ph.D. workload; that afternoon, however, it was obvious he had something special planned. While adventuring through the meadows, Sam guided me down a path that eventually led us to “our spot” where we first said “I love you.” He planned the most romantic picnic set in Sentinel Meadow along the Merced River with Yosemite Falls as our backdrop. When Sam got down on one knee to ask me to marry him, he almost dropped the Graff engagement ring into the sand; I was so teary-eyed that I couldn’t see Sam or the ring clearly. After I said “yes” to the love of my life, we watched the light slowly transition across the granite walls as we listened to the faint sounds of Yosemite Falls; a beautiful memory I’ll never forget. Our intimate proposal was absolutely perfect."
