A Malibu Hills Wedding with Celestial Views
Today we have a beautifully classic wedding of Kaitlyn and Jeremy courtesy of photographer Jeanni Dunagan and stylist By Maher Haroun. The couple chose to host their ceremony and reception at Cielo Farms, located in the Malibu Hills. The venue features a charming stone estate, rambling grape vineyards, and an intimate adorned indoor and outdoor reception spaces.
From the couple: “We fell in love with Cielo Farms the moment we saw it, it has all of the elements that we wanted in a venue. We love that it is outdoors, surrounded by the rolling hills of Malibu. We definitely wanted a venue that was picturesque. The brick barn captures elements of Italian inspired design that we also love. Cielo Farms is also a family owned estate and winery, and we love wine tasting and the romantic essence of a winery.”
Kaitlyn chose an elegant ballgown style dress from designer Hayley Paige. Complementing the hint of sparkle in the gown, a dazzling pair of Manolo Blahniks were the perfect accoutrement. For hair and makeup, Cheek to Cheek Artistry created an elegant beauty look that involved soft, natural-looking makeup coupled with a hairstyle that featured long, flowing curls and elegantly pinned up sides.
The ceremony took place in the garden area with beautiful mountain views. Cross-back chairs for the ceremony were the perfect choice for the Tuscan style setting and the pastel blooms surrounding the arch resulted in a dreamy spring ceremony space. Jeremy’s stepfather officiated the ceremony, including stories of the couple as they dated and fell in love, as well as a moment of silence to honor family members who could not be present to celebrate.
When it came time to be seated for dinner, guests were treated to majestic views while dining on couture cuisine from Tres LA. Cross-back chairs paired with long farm tables created a refined canvas for the elegant tabletop details that included lace detailed dinnerware, elegant vintage inspired flatware, gold rim glassware paired with a clean and modern custom menu. Seasonal blooms gently swayed across the tables while layered candle votives provided the perfect level of ambiance.
During dinner, the couple were toasted by several friends and family members who all had a consistent theme in their words – the unique and beautiful love this couple has for one another and how well-loved they are by others. The couple broke into an impromptu and emotional first dance immediately after the last toast.
From event designer, By Maher Haroun: “It is critical that my clients feel a sense of ownership towards their wedding. A wedding that feels true to the couple in a way that’s even recognizable to the guests is very important to what I bring to my client’s wedding day. Through a series of conversations with Kaitlyn and Jeremy it quickly became evident how refined and classic their styles were. Kaitlyn approached me with the goal of having an ‘elegant and classic wedding with a modern edge. As the day began to quickly arrive and details started to come together, we prioritized having really meaningful design element that spoke for themselves.
The couple chose a semi-custom invite suite from Isidore & Augustine. The clean formatting, characterized fonts, and bold navy wax seal served as the perfect way to set the tone for their wedding. Carrying that same balanced sensibility into the wedding day, we created a floral design that complemented the venue and the season while also staying true to the couple’s aesthetic.”
Kaitlyn and Jeremy had a first look in a secluded area of the venue with rolling hills and a dramatic sky as their backdrop. From photographer, Jeanni Dunagan: “Kaitlyn and Jeremy’s first look was one of my favorite parts of their day to photograph. The moment was very intimate and redolent with the anticipation of seeing one another. The look of pure adoration on Jeremy’s face was especially touching.”
From the bride: “Jeremy was my first date, first kiss and first boyfriend. Relationships and dating was something that I always valued and wanted to be special to me. I knew that when I decided to date someone it would be special and it would be intentional. On my first coffee date with Jeremy I knew he was someone special and I wanted to get to know him more. I was instantly drawn to his confidence, charming personality, kindness and smile. During our months of long distance dating, our relationship was tested but I knew that if we could do that, we could do anything. I remember on the first date that I took Jeremy on, there was a moment when I knew I could see myself one day marrying him. It wasn’t too long after that I said ‘I love you’ to Jeremy. “
From the groom: “Falling in love with Kaitlyn was very natural and happened way faster than I ever thought. From the first time I got coffee with Kaitlyn, I knew that she was special. I was surprised by how easy it was to be myself around her and we were often on the same page in terms of how we wanted to spend our time together. After spending three months apart but still dating (I was in Chicago, Kaitlyn was in Orange County, CA) the distance between us revealed to me how much I loved her and how special our time together was. Shortly after that time apart I told Kaitlyn I loved her for the first time.”
