5 Tips on Organizing a Destination Wedding
Preparing for engagement and wedding can be exciting and daunting meanwhile. Founder of Little Stories – the Moment by Amy is excited to share some tips to guide you plan your destination engagement and wedding at ease. Amy is a fine art photographer who is an avid traveller too (Also an Airbnb ambassador)!
CHOOSING YOUR DESTINATION LOCATION
Choose a relatable and loving destination that you love or possess special sentiment to you or your fiancé. It could be any place in the world but relate it to you and make it memorable to look back. It could be about the location, facing the ocean or the mountain, with the classical or modern architecture, the vibe…
GET THE DREAM TEAM
Look for the dream team who understand what you want can help you narrow down the scope and go for picture-perfect for photo shoots! Don't just look locally. You can fly in your dream team from anywhere in the world OR look for the local photographers or team there! For any destination wedding, having a wedding planner like East Made Co part of the shared vision would definitely help you manage and release the pressure from the preparation and the wedding day!
GET THE RIGHT TIMING
Timing is more important than you think, it is just like the right timing to meet your Mr. Right! Research for the right season, with desirable weather (check out rainy seasons etc), and lighting of the day would be crucial for great portraits! Afternoon harsh light is what professional photographers would like to avoid especially for engagement and wedding portraits. We don’t want big harsh eye shadows on your face!
MAKE IT ALL ABOUT YOU!
It’s all about you! You have total freedom to make it your own and set your own rules for your wedding! Ocean lovers could do engagements on sailboat and wedding at a yacht club! Art lovers could do destination wedding in art studios or art museums! There are no boundaries at all as long as you dream it!
PREPARE FOR THE BEST
Picture in your head how you would like to have your dream wedding there and plan accordingly with photography, decoration and catering. Always have a back-up plan in case of adverse weather conditions. If possible, go there at least once before your dream wedding at least half year ahead.
After all, making a dreamy destination wedding does take time. All you need is to set a timeline and confirm the dream team and guests well in advance. Ask for help from your wedding planner or close friends and set up meetings or phone calls with vendors. They are more than willing to guide you through to make your wedding a memorable one to recall. Enjoy!
