5 reasons why you should have a bridal portrait session
If you’re not used to being in front of the camera, suddenly being the center of attention on your wedding day can feel incredibly daunting. If you have time, meeting and shooting with your photographer ahead of your wedding can be a great way to quell those nerves. Here are five reasons why you should have a bridal portrait session ahead of your wedding day.
1. Work those angles
You’ll be able to see which poses make you feel most comfortable and what makes you feel awkward. If you feel uncomfortable this always comes across on camera, so get these shots out of the way and you’ll know what to avoid doing when your wedding day arrives. You can see which angles of your face and body you really love, and work out how to show off that gorgeous dress from every position ahead of the wedding day.
2. Chemistry with your photographer
We always recommend choosing a photographer you vibe well with and doing a bridal portrait session gives you the opportunity to work together ahead of the wedding. Understanding each other's communication style and seeing how your photographer works is such an important dynamic. It really helps to make sure you’re not going into the wedding day with so many unknowns. Instead, you’ll feel super confident in your photographer, and as a result you’ll look incredible in their photos. Trust is everything!
3. A trial run for the hair and makeup
Naturally you’ll be having a hair and make up trial, and it makes sense to have a photoshoot while you’re looking supremely gorgeous! It’ll also show how your hair and makeup styling looks in photos - you might decide to go heavier on the eyes / lips or perhaps just feel super confident that your hair and makeup artist has nailed it, and that you’re going to look incredible on the wedding day.
4. Experimentation!
If you’re considering a veil or other bridal accessories, why not experiment with options at your photoshoot and see which works best. You might decide that the veil is too long, or not dramatic enough, or that you want to change up your look for the evening. This is a great time to see how your overall look is going to come together ahead of the wedding.
5. Your wedding day goes so fast!
Your wedding day will feel like it’s going at light speed - every couple says their wedding day was a blur of fun, joy and excitement. You won’t want the day to end, and most people don’t want to spend hours away from guests doing portraits. If you do a bridal portrait session ahead of your wedding day, you’ll save time on the day knowing that you’ve already got some gorgeous images in the bag, and it just takes the pressure off.
