Relaxed Low Chignon Bridal Hair Tutorial
There is something about a low chignon hairstyle, with a few non-perfect pieces framing the face, that we find utterly elegant. Today we're learning from lovely Sophie Lau Makeup how to recreate this gorgeous, yet totally achievable look. We're quite fond of this entire team, including La Belle and Amelia Soegijono so learn a little something and fawn over these images with us...
Reminiscent of regal red carpet looks from the Old Hollywood era (think Grace Kelly’s classic chignon), this beautiful hairstyle can be effortlessly jazzed up with La Belle’s clips, crowns, wreaths and hair pieces for the ultimate glamorous look.
Step 1: Taking generous strands from the crown area, gently twist the hair, using one bobby pin to secure at the centre.
Step 2: Grab more hair from one side, before twisting again and pinning.
Step 3: Repeat on the other side, twisting the hair and pinning again.
Step 5: If you’re ready to commit…divide the hair into 3 main sections, allowing two strands to fall across the shoulders and one strand to run down the back, centrally.
Step 6: Using a quality ceramic or metal curling iron, curl the ends of the three sections of hair.
Step 7: Take a side section of hair and twist it tightly…
Step 8: …before sweeping it underneath the other 2 remaining hair sections and securing with a pin.
Step 9: Repeat on the other side.
Step 10: Twist the last section of the hair.
Step 11 Pin it to the back.
Step 12: To ensure your hairdo is super secure, add a few more pins in the right places to hold the shape, then hairspray.
Step 13: To decorate your ‘do, secure the hairpiece above the chignon and secure.
Step 14: Now, focus on the front of the hair, shaping bangs or straightening tresses. Depending on your preferred hairstyle, you can side sweep, form a sleek centre part or create a tousled mini-fringe. It’s totally up to you!
Step 15 : Voila! Your wedding day hair has arrived. Take a selfie!
