From photographer Jasmine Pettersen: "The old town of Galle Fort on Sri Lanka’s south coast is full of walkable lanes and elegant, sun-washed villas. This editorial was conceived as an homage to this grand dame of the tropics, a place I’ve returned to often on my visits to the island, each time with renewed appreciation.

The town represents a unique fusion of traditional Sri Lankan and European architectural elements. Our setting was a colonial era villa with elegant whitewashed columns, thick walls with earthy patinas, and a shaded courtyard with frangipani trees dropping their richly scented flowers. Our bride spends the wedding morning resting in quiet solitude at the villa, before dressing to go downstairs to meet her groom. The couple spend some sweet moments together, then hail a passing tuk-tuk to whisk them off to their celebration together.

Our colour palette was designed to reflect this distinctive tropical location: dusty pink, brass, earthy shades, charcoal and white. While the location is old and substantial, we wanted to balance the styling with a light, modern touch - from the dainty bouquet, to the feather-light gown by Cinobi, an incredible Indonesian designer. The bride’s diamond jewellery is by Tiesh, a Sri Lankan jeweler who beautifully balances the traditional with the modern in their pieces.

The paper goods, conceived and created by the talented Jianery, speak to the organic textures and brass elements of the villa, while skillfully referencing locale by incorporating the outline of the island country in metallic ink across several different pieces."
