Italian Villa Real Wedding on a Budget

Jun 28, 2018 | Weddings

We all know how expensive weddings can be and from personal experience, my taste seems to become more expensive the more 'fine art' I want to go! So when this beautiful wedding from Justine Milton was sent my way, I was so impressed with how bride Dorsey ensured her wedding was beautifully meaningful and elegant yet kept to her budget by buying a sample dress, creating her own stationery and using her wedding photographer husband's contacts to get the best deals!

From Dorsey: "Because Taylor is a wedding photographer and I assisted him on many occasions, we had both seen countless weddings. When he finally popped the big question, we both knew exactly what we wanted for our own big day. Our must haves were a beautiful venue, a fantastic photographer, and our loved ones to come. We almost chose a destination wedding in Italy but the last “must have” of our loved ones coming limited us to the south east region. When we came across an Italian villa in our home state, we knew we found our venue. To make the look complete, we kept with minimal white florals, gold touches, and soft aesthetic. As most weddings do, I started to realize I was going to go over our budget if I did not find ways to cut costs. To do so, I chose to design my own wedding suite using personal calligraphy. A home scanner, photoshop, and using an online lab, I created a suite that has a very personal touch that was perfect for us. I also bought a bridal store sample dress as my wedding gown and that saved a TON. Fortunately, it was my absolutely dream dress so I lucked up on that. Lastly, because Taylor is in the wedding industry, he has made a lot of connection and friendships with local vendors that were so kind to lend their expertise or offered a discount. My wedding was not “perfect” ( no wedding is ) but it was a day of pure bliss.

If I had to give piece of advice is to get a videographer. Our last second splurge was to hire one and I am SO GLAD I did!! To see the tears as they fall, his face change from anticipation to crying as I walk down the isle or to actually watch my friends and family dancing is priceless."
