Checklist of all the wedding stationery you’ll need for your big day
Before you go buying every pretty note card in sight, determine your needs by breaking down your wedding day. Use your wedding style, however formal or casual, as well as time and budget to guide you through the boundless options. It's helpful to establish a thread of consistency - with color, theme, or motif - and apply it to each piece. For efficiency and cost effectiveness, strive to order all your stationery needs from the same place and, ideally, at the same time. Sound complicated? We've teamed up with luxury wedding stationers Norma & Dorothy to talk through everything you need to know about the paper products you'll be ordering...
SAVE THE DATES
Send your save the dates out once your wedding date has been confirmed with the venue. Wedding season can be very busy for guests and weddings will often be at the same time as family holidays, so it’s important to let your guests know the date as soon as possible, so they don’t double book themselves!
Wedding invitations are the most important part of your wedding stationery so it’s important to get these right. They’ll need to include key information for your guests and they also set the theme and tone for your big day. The information guests will need at a minimum is the date, location and time they should arrive. Extra information for the guests will include things like directions, accommodation information if it’s an overnight stay, whether travel will be provided plus any gift information. You’ll need to collect information from your guests too so make sure you specify what you need and how it’s going to be collected. An RSVP can be very useful as you can keep all the information you need in the same place and have your guests fill this out and return back to you. TOP TIP - include a stamp on the RSVP to make it super easy for the guests to reply or to save money, include an email address or phone number to reply to! Information you might need other than attendance is meal choices or something fun such as a song request.
Guest books like these are super important to any wedding, as it is something that the couple gets to keep for the rest of their lives. All of your guests can write well wishes and advice and is something you can look back on throughout your married life.
A large impactful table plan will make a big statement in a wedding reception, so it’s a great chance to get a key piece of styling for your wedding and also help guide your guests to their seats. People will often worry about who will sit next to who, but the key thing to remember is that everyone is there to celebrate your wedding day and it’s a chance to bring people together who might not have met otherwise.
THANK YOU CARDS
Once you’re a happily married couple don’t forget the thank you cards! We’d recommend including your favourite photograph from your wedding with these as it makes a great keepsake and your guests will love seeing the first photograph from your wedding.
