Art inspired old world wedding musings
Gian Lorenzo Bernini was an Italian sculptor, credited for gaining momentum for the baroque movement. Among many other things, Bernini was known for his innate ability to accurately portray emotion and dramatic narratives. Inspired by this ancient history, stylist Pearl and Godiva and photographer Joey Kennedy dreamed up this Italian beauty, depicting the mastery of Bernini and also the scandalous themes and moments that Bernini was known for. We are lost in the deep yearning in their eyes, the stoic stances, and the old world feel....
From photographer Joey Kennedy: "This shoot was based off the work of Gian Lorenzo Bernini the great sculpture who lived in Rome during the 1600s. He produced many priceless marble sculptures. This particular shoot was based off Pluto and Persephone. Bernini's work always has a theme of mans sensual passion for the feminine. Even his sculpture made for the Catholic church were often scandalous as depicted moments of ecstasy. This made us curious as to his character and what he would be like in real life? Pearl chose Matera, italy as a unique and ancient location for the shoot. She carefully choose our models and began to tell the story of Bernini falling love w his work after coming to life. We had a great team working to execute this lovely one on one workshop. It was an honor to learn from Pearl and many thanks to the wonderful vendor who pulled off this international shoot."
