Allison and Greg’s Rustic and Elegant Formal Wedding
A wedding full of sweet moments and a classic, elegant style... cheers to Allison and Greg and their lovely Charlottesville wedding! When we opened up photographer Megan Schmitz's submission, we instantly felt drawn to this sweet couple's connection between each other and how Allison could not stop smiling! We feel like we say this all the time, but truly there is nothing better than those sweet 'cant stop smiling' types of smiles...
Nestled in a pretty little hillside of Virginia, Mount Ida Farm has that 'rustic elegance' thing down pat. Allison's bridesmaids wore a dainty hue of powder blue and the guys looked dapper in their tuxes and bowties. One of our favorite moments has to be the image with Allison's sweet dad wiping a tear away. Those are the little moments that STILL give us all the feels (even after thousands of weddings!). So sweet and such a gorgeous spring day for these newlyweds!
From Megan Schmitz Photography: "Allison and Greg celebrated their wedding on April 29, 2017 at the 600 acre Mount Ida Farm, The Lodge Venue in Charlottesville, VA. Allison and Greg are D.C. residents, however love the outdoors and being active together. They often spend time at their family's mountain house enjoying hiking and bonfires. They chose Mount Ida Farm to get away from the city and be in nature for their wedding. They partnered with Amore Events by Cody for the design plan creating a color palette of peaches, whites, and greens for their florals that Blue Ridge Floral Design executed beautifully. Mount Ida's ceremony site for Allison and Greg was truly unforgettable. The site overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains and has this really amazing tree as one of the main focal points. The guests were shuttled to the ceremony from The Lodge as it sits at the top of the hill. They were greeted with infused waters for the unusually warm and sunny day in April. Following the ceremony, guests headed to the indoor cocktail hour where they could leave messages in the bottle for the bride and groom, sip a fancy cocktail, or look at the old photographs of Allison and Greg's grandparents. The Lodge has a rustic elegance with it's exterior a sophisticated barn look, stone patios, and romantic lighting surrounding.. The interior has vaulted ceilings with stunning wooden beams, grand chandeliers and a large space to dance the night away.
It was really important to Allison and Greg to capture the openness of the mountains, but also to highlight the candid laughter throughout the day. From the first look to portraits, you can't help feel the love between the two of them. Their story is precious as from day one - Allison said they both had a feeling they would end up together. The wedding celebration concluded with a joyful bubble send off just in time for the lovebirds to take off to Bora Bora for their honeymoon."
